The Metasequoia Tree-lined Road is a straight road lined on either side with roughly 500 Metasequoia trees along a 2.4-kilometer stretch from Makino Pic-land to the approach of the Makino Highland.

The beauty of the changing seasons

With the refreshing greenery of spring and summer, changing leaves of autumn, and snowy winter landscape, the beautiful scenery of the seasons is always in harmony with the distant Nosaka Mountains. The site has been selected by the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper as one of Japan’s new 100 best roadside tree views as well as Japan’s top 100 autumn foliage spots.

Autumn, the best season to see the Metasequoias!

The best time to visit the Metasequoia Tree-lined Road is during the autumn foliage season when the road is dyed a beautiful bright red, usually from early November to late November. We recommend taking a leisurely stroll rather than viewing the leaves from inside a car. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery created by the seasonal Metasequoia trees along the long, straight road.
