With a history of over 1,300 years, Fushimi Inari Taisha, is the main shrine of Inari shrines nationwide. Also known for its attractive Senbon Torii gates, the shrine is said to bring business prosperity, good harvests, household safety, healing from all illnesses, and traffic safety. In this program, a Shinto priest shows you around areas that are normally closed to the public, and you can also experience praying at the main shrine and making Kagura offerings.

We guide you to an area that is usually closed to the public, Seicho-no-Ma, the prestigious main ceremonial hall where the shrine's official events, festivals, and important rituals take place. On display in Seicho-no-Ma is a hanging scroll by world-renowned printmaker Munakata Shiko, who won the International Grand Prize for Printmaking at the 28th Venice Biennale. Rare, contemporary fusuma sliding door paintings dedicated to the shrine office by distinguished artists Taisuke Hamada and Yoshitaka Amano are also available for viewing.

Fushimi Inari Taisha is the main shrine of the approximately 30,000 Oinari-san shrines nationwide, enshrining Inari Okami, enshrined on Mt. Inari in 711 during the Nara period. Celebrating 1,300 years in 2011, the shrine is known to bring business prosperity, good harvest, safety of households, and the fulfillment of various wishes. The shrine attracts visitors from worldwide as a Japanese cultural spot as its premises are also home to the Senbon Torii, the tunnel-like row of torii gates dedicated by people as a sign of worship and gratitude, statues of foxes which serve as messengers to Inari Okami, and the shrine building designated as an important cultural property.
